This will be a very quick- as I plan to write again later this evening, but I wanted to share a funny "happening." Brett and I were crossing a street up here in Tai Po, and a woman came running at me with a camera. She asked if she could please have her picture taken with me. (Not us, mind you, me.) Though I felt a little strange and awkward wondering why in the heck this woman would want a picture of me, she seemed very set on making this happen, so I agreed. That was when she got excited. A man she was with prepared to take the picture and Brett stepped away. This girl put her arm around me and smiled. After the picture she thanked me and ran off. hmmm....
Thinking back now, I wish I'd had Brett take a picture of the scene- just to prove it happened!
I remember Blythe talking about her trip to Africa, and explaining how the Malawians would get very excited about pictures with white people. (That said, I know they were very intrigued by the cameras, as they weren't used to them. But Hong Kong has far more gadgets walking the streets than anywhere I've ever been...) I guess I'll never be sure if she wanted a picture with the "white woman she saw" or if she had me confused with someone else. And unfortunately, I'll probably be wondering about that for a while...
